How to Get a Library Card
IF YOU OR YOUR FAMILY OWN OR RENT A RESIDENCE IN WHITE PLAINS AND YOU LIVE
IN WHITE PLAINS:
You are eligible to receive a White Plains Public Library card. Two forms of
ID, one with your name and current address, are required the first time you
register and each time you renew. Your White Plains card is honored at all
Westchester public libraries and at the Westchester Community College library.
Guest privileges may be available to others who are residing temporarily in
White Plains.
For 3 weeks from the date you register, until address verification is
complete, your check-out limit is 3 items (total). After verification of your
address, your resident registration is valid for 3 years.
IF YOU DO NOT LIVE IN WHITE PLAINS:
A) If you live, work, go to school or own property in Westchester, you may
register to use the White Plains Public Library. Two forms of ID, one of which
must be your current library card from your Westchester home library, and one of
which must have your name and current address as proof that you live, work, go
to school or own property in Westchester are required when you register.
B) If you live outside Westchester County, but work, go to school or own
property in White Plains, you are eligible to receive a White Plains Public
Library card. Two forms of ID (1 with current home address, 1 with current White
Plains work or school address or proof of property ownership) are required.
C) If you live outside of Westchester County and DO NOT work, go to school,
or own property in Westchester, you may purchase a card from the Westchester
Library System at an annual fee of $75 which can be used at the White Plains
Public Library. An application form is available at our Checkout Desk, which
should be sent directly to WLS with your payment. Your card will be mailed to
you directly from the Westchester Library System and is honored at all
Westchester public libraries.
For 3 weeks from the date you register, until address verification is
complete, your check-out limit is 3 items (total). After verification of your
address, your non-resident registration is valid for 1 year.
