Programs for Children at the Library

The White Plains Public Library offers a year round schedule of programming to serve the needs and interests of young patrons and families. The monthly calendar displays the various storytimes, puppet shows, music or dance productions, craft activities and special events that are currently available. Further information on the standard recurring programs is listed below.

Unless otherwise noted, registration is not required. Programs that require registration are limited to White Plains residents. Please arrive early!

Mother Goose Time

Mother Goose Time is a program of songs, rhymes and stories for the littlest library-goer (birth to 24 months) with a caregiver. This program is scheduled a few times each month.

Nanas y Niņos

The Nanas y Niņos program includes stories, songs, nursery rhymes and games entirely in Spanish for children from 6 months old and up with their family. This program is generally offered once a month.

Time for 2's & 3's

Time for 2's & 3's includes songs, games, activities and stories for children ages 25 months to 48 months with a caregiver. This program is generally scheduled on 3 Tuesdays each month at 10:30 and 11 am.

Wednesday Preschool Storytimes

Our Preschool Storytimes are for children ages 4 & 5 without an adult. All storytimes include a craft activity. The program is offered at 10:30 am & 2 pm most Wednesdays.

Cuentos en Espaņol

This Spanish language storytime is for children ages 3 and up with an adult, and is generally offered once a month.

The Cookie Club

The Cookie Club program offers stories, crafts and a cookie snack for children ages 6 to 8. It is generally scheduled at 4:30 pm twice a month.

Rimas Para Niņos

Rimas Para Niņos includes songs and stories in English and Spanish for the whole family; the program is generally held one Saturday a month.

The Parent-Child Connection

This three-week program is geared for you and your child. Play, craft and sing together and meet new people in a warm and imaginative setting. Experts are on hand to informally discuss topics such as nutrition, speech and language, child development and more. The Parent-Child Connection program is for parents/caregivers and their children ages 13 to 36 months. Pre-registration is required. It is offered on varying days and times throughout the year.

Homework Help @ the Library

Homework Help @ the Library offers free after-school homework help from a White Plains Teacher-in-the-Library, and it is available for children through grade 6 in the Children's Library. Drop in on Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays from 4 to 7 pm and Thursdays from 4 to 6 pm when school is in session (excluding school vacations).

Also, our live Online Tutor @ the Library is available every day from 2-11 pm. Students in grades 4 - 12 can use this service daily from 2 pm till closing for online tutoring sessions on PC's in the Library. White Plains residents can connect to homework help tutors from PC's outside the Library by logging into our website. Have your library card number handy.
