ALL SEASONS CHAMBER PLAYERS IN CONCERT AT WHITE PLAINS PUBLIC LIBRARY
The All Seasons Chamber Players, one of the region’s
most popular chamber ensembles, will perform a program entitled From Mozart to
Martinu at the White Plains Public Library on Sunday, March 23 at 3:00 pm.
The members of the ensemble are flutist Brenda Sakofsky, violinist Robert
Lawrence, cellist Ellen Zoe Hassman and pianists Jean Strickholm and Steven
Anderson.
The free program will feature
Mozart’s dramatic Sonata in E Minor for Piano and Violin, K. 304;
Edvard Grieg’s beloved Norwegian Dances Op. 35 in their original version for
piano duet; Bohuslav Martinu’s lively and rhythmic Trio for Flute,
Cello and Piano in F, written in 1944 when he lived in Ridgefield,
Connecticut; and Johannes Brahms’ magnificent lush Trio in B Major,
Op. 8, one of the great works in the chamber music literature.
Now in its 22nd season, the All
Seasons Chamber Players has performed nearly 400 concerts in the metropolitan
area including two previous appearances at the White Plains Public Library in
1997 and 2000. In addition to its live concerts, the ensemble has been
featured in several hour-long broadcasts on Cablevision’s MetroArts/Thirteen
station.
Ensemble members are active
professionals who also serve as soloists and members of major New York area
orchestras, Broadway shows and summer music festivals and have performed in
New York City’s major concert halls. Their appearance at the White
Plains Public Library is made possible through funding provided by the Friends
of the White Plains Public Library.
