CONTRASTS QUARTET TO PERFORM AT CLARICE WILSON MEMORIAL CONCERT
The
acclaimed chamber group, Contrasts Quartet, will appear at the White Plains
Public Library on Sunday, April 27th at 2:30 pm in a special concert in memory
of Clarice Wilson, music specialist at the Library from 1974 to 1999.
The free concert, which is presented by the White Plains Library Foundation,
features works by Ned Rorem, Beethoven and Brahms. A reception will
follow the concert.
Contrasts Quartet consists of Ayako Oshima, clarinet; Monica Bauchwitz, violin; Ariane Lallemand, cello; and Evelyne Luest, piano. The group has worked with many living composers and has commissioned and premiered works of Aaron Jay Kemis, Michael Torke, Ned Rorem, Scott Johnson, and Derek Bermel, among others.
The Quartet has been invited to perform in Europe and across the United States. Their concert appearances have included performances at Carnegie’s Weill Hall, Merkin Hall and live appearances on New York’s WNYC Radio and the nationally syndicated “St. Paul Sunday” radio program. The ensemble has been honored with awards and grants from the American Composers Forum, the Aaron Copland Fund For Music, Meet the Composer, the Fromm Foundation, the New York Foundation for the Arts, and Chamber Music America.

Plains Library Foundation, earmarked to enhance Library music programming and
collections, are welcome.
